Teaching points: ①vocabulary: daydreaming, realistic, actor, actress, superstar, director, producer, cameraman, lighting manager, make-up artist, scriptwriter, costume designer, set designer, film editor, action, good take, stand by, take two. ②sentence structure: I would like to be…/I would like to do … I’d rather be… /I’d rather do … Teaching emphasis and difficulties: ①the usage of the verb ‘stop’ ; /stop doing /stop to do ②the use of object clause; ③the sentence structure ‘I’d rather be… ’. Teaching procedures: Step 1: Show students the picture of Hollywood on the ppt and then have a discussion of the films. The teacher can ask questions like: Do you know where the place is? What is Hollywood famous for? Do you like films? Can you name some of Hollywood films? (Impossible, Avatar, The Pursuit of Happiness, Roman Holiday…) Why do you like it? Step 2: Ask the students to name some terms or buzz words relating to the film industry. (If they can’t say in English, Chinese is ok.) The teacher explains them one by one in simple English. Then fill in the blanks in Part A, Page 77.
