Abstract Objectives：To master the effect of high iodine on people by investigating the disease state after ten years of universal salt iodization(usD in Ying County．So that finding the suitable prevention and treatment measures．Method：Field epidemiology survey was applied in high— iodine areas of Ying County．Water jodine concentration determined by arsenic—cerimn catalytic spectrophotometry．Thyroid of children aged 8～10 years was diagnosed by palpating and diagnostic criteria was GBl6004—1995rDiagnostic and classificatory criteria of endemic goiter)，Urinary iodine was determined by arsenic—cerium catalytic spectrophotometry．The children’s IO Values were measured by the Combined Raven’s s Test(CRT-C2)．Iodined salt was determined by direct titration．Results：Five hundred and sixty．eight Water samples were collected and the median of water iodine was abowe 1 50#g／L in 6 towns．The 10west concentration of water iodine was O．4／zg／L and the highest concentration of water iodine was 875．4#o／L．Eighty—eight cases of I。goiter and 1 case of II。goiter were diagnosed among 1238 children aged 8-10 years in 6 high-iodine towns and the goiter rate was 7．19％．which was significantly highel than that before adopting USI(X 2=3．99，PO，05)．The goiter rate of different sex did not have significant different (x‘=O．0443．PO．05)．111e goiter rate of different．aged children was significantly different(x 2=11．33，13=2，P(O．01)and the goiter rate of8years groupwaslowerthanthat ofloyearsgroup(x毛11．10．P0．05)．nemedian of urinary iodine was 528．3 1#g／L，and was significantly higher than that before adopting USI fu=3．68．P0．01)．The median of urinary iodine of different sex didn’t have different (u=0．56．PO．05)．The median of urinary iodine of different-aged group was significantly different(H=8．58，u=2，P0．05)．The highest urinary iodine concentration was 2681-3“g／L and the 10west was 12．6“∥L The average of IQ was 108．4 in villages with water iodine above 150肛g／L and was 107．7 in villages with water below 150#g／L
