The modern one includes Olympic Summer Games and Olympic Winter Games, both of them take place every four years. Introduction of Olympic Games Origin of Ancient Olympic Games The history of the Ancient Olympic Games can be traced back over 3000 years to ancient Greece. The first one was held in front of the temple of Zeus of Olympia in 776 BC. While the games was on, the city states came to an agreement to cease fire. Modern Olympic Games A Frenchman named Pierre De Coubertin started the modern Olympic Games in 1896. He had a strong belief in the importance of sports for the development of the individual. Olympic knowledge Olympic symbol: It represents the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world at the Olympic Games. Olympic motto: Faster, Higher, Stronger. These three words encourage the athlete to give his or her best during the competition, and to view this effort as a victory in itself. Torch relay Passing the flame is an expression of good wills for people: that is to spread Olympics spirit forever.
