物理系学术报告 Physics Seminar 6月13日，周日，10:00-11:00，教12-201 Heat Conduction in Low Dimensions Professor Bambi Hu Department of Physics, University of Houston ABSTRACT Heat conduction is an old yet important problem. Since Fourier introduced the law bearing his name two hundred years ago, a first-principle derivation of this law from statistical mechanics is still lacking. Worse still, the validity of this law in low dimensions, and the necessary and sufficient conditions for its validity are still far from clear. In this talk Ill give a review of recent works done on this subject. Ill also report our work on asymmetric heat conduction and negative differential thermal resistance in nonlinear systems. The study of heat conduction is not only of theoretical interest but also of practical interest. The study of electricity conduction has led to the invention of diodes, transistors and computers. The study of heat conduction may also lead to the invention of thermal devices of similar importance in the future. 胡斑比教授简介： Ph.D., Cornell University, 1974。 美国休士顿大学教授，香港浸会大学非线性研究中心主任；北京－香港－新加坡联合研究非线性与复杂系. 长期从事混沌动力学，相变与临界期刊“International journal of modern physics B”, “Modern physics letters B”“Nonlinear studies”的编辑，为香港浸会大学非线性中心及国际学术会“DDAP”的8次国180余位科学家先后到他的研究中心访问，中国大多数的非线性科学家都访问过他的中心。在Phys. Rep. PRL等刊物上发表论文256篇。现为山东大学，山东师范大学，北京师范大学，华东师范大学，扬州大学，湖南大学及浙江大学名誉教授。 欢迎老师和同学参加！
