Unit 2 I used to be afraid of the dark
单元学习目标:
听,能听懂Did you use to…?引出的别人过去的行为,习惯等方面的话题。
说,会用I used to be … He used to do …的句型说出自己或别人过去常常做的事情或经历。
读,能从图表或短文中获取介绍人物事迹、兴趣爱好的信息。
写,能写一篇关于自己过去的生活习惯的短文。
重点词汇:
terrify, go to sleep, on, daily, death, cause, patient, in the end, make a decision, to one’s surprise, even though, take pride in, attention, give up, waste
重点语法及句型:
用used to do 谈论过去,并掌握used to do 作谓语的各种句式。

写作:
运用本单元的词汇与语法,描述人物,事物的过去与现在对比的文章。
情感目标:
通过回忆过去的事情,让学生认识到自己的变化,在变化中认识到自己在成长,在成长中看到希望和成功。

Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Revision
1. Check the homework
2. Ask some students their ways of learning English
Step 2 Leading in
Ask students the following questions.
1. How did you spend your summer vacation?
2. What did you usually do on this summer vacation?
3. How did you spend your summer vacation three years ago?
4. What did you usually do/use to do?/ How tall were you 2 yeas ago? How tall are you now? What did you use to look like?
The students will give different answers, then write now and past(three years ago)on the blackboard side by side, and write used to under the past. Tell students we use “used to” to talk about things that have changed.
Step 3 1a
Say: In our life, many things change, our looks(appearance), our interests, our habits, our personalities, Make students understand appearance and personality and get students finish 1a.
Ask students to add more words or phrases to the chart.
Sample answers:
Appearance: tall, straight/curly hair, short/long hair, blonde/black hair, medium build/height, fat , heavy, tubby, slim, thin, skinny pretty, good-looking, beautiful, handsome, strong, muscular, ugly
Personality: outgoing, active, funny, good-natured(性格好的)bad-tempered, strict, serious, quiet, shy, warm-hearted, friendly, unfriendly, patient, easy-going, kind, gentle
