How to upgrade / downgrade EFI driver and firmware for fiber channel storage cards on IA server ( Draft 1 )

1. Prepare before upgrade / downgrade EFI driver and firmware
Download the EFI driver and firmware
Upload the EFI driver and firmware to server which you want to upgrade / downgrade, the upload file should be put at /boot/efi/, because this directory is the mapping for the EFI partition
Reboot the server and pause the boot process at EFI boot manager
Select the EFI shell line to go to the EFI shell on EFI boot manager
Go to the fsX: where your OS was installed on
For example
Shell fs0:
Enter the dir where you upload your firmware files in. The directory path in EFI shell equal to the directory under “/boot/efi” in OS
For example
“/boot/efi/ForDoc” in OS equal “fs0:\ ForDoc”
Fs0:\ cd ForDoc
2. Upgrade / downgrade EFI driver and firmware for Qlogic FC cards
Qlogic FC cards will upgrade / downgrade EFI driver and firmware together through run a script from EFI shell.
Go to the directory where you have uploaded the firmware for Qlogic FC card. The directory include a lot of files. You only focus two files. The “efiutil.efi” file is a tool which you can use it to review firmware version and FC cards for Qlogic information, and the “update.nsh” file is used to upgrade firmware for Qlogic
Run “efiutil.efi” tool and check the firmware version currently
For example
Fs0:\ efiutil vpd_display all
Run “update.nsh” tool and the firmware and boot code ( EFI driver ) will be upgraded automation
For example
Fs0:\ update.nsh
Wait the upgrade process finish
You need do a power cycle after the upgrade process finish
For example
Fs0:\ reset
Wait the server reboot. Break the boot process when EFI boot manager appear and reenter the EFI shell
Run “efiutil.efi” tool to verify that the upgrade is success
