Abstract: Motivation is the top non-intellectual factor in affecting learners’ learning. However, nowadays current college-level students among English majors have showed demotivation toward their English learning. Thus this paper studies contributing factors causing English learning demotivation via questionnaire survey method and based on data analysis, finding that students, teachers and learning environment experienced detachment that could hinder learning English. But student themselves is the main factor. Furthermore, it is also found that the extent of demotivation is inversely related to the English levels. That is to say: the higher English level, the less demotivation trend. Hence, hope the present paper will be useful for both teachers’ future teaching and students’ English learning to minimize demotivation.

Literature Review
1. The importance of motivation
Motivation is “defined as an inner driving force that activates an individual to do something that will satisfy his need or desire” (Sun, 2010: 6). And motivation “refers to a combination of efforts plus desire and favorable attitudes towards learning to achieve the goal of learning language” (Sun, 2010: 8). So we can see that motivation plays an important role in stimulating student having the positive attitude or behavior in process of English learning.
Though there have been various theories and studies on motivation aspects on English learning, few researches are about the factors causing less motivation. However, recently, it is known that some students have already showed their less motivation on English learning, and some
