If you have a scar that resulted from it, be sure and show them. Tell the students to share with their team about a time when they got hurt pretty bad and now have a scar from that accident. Tension: We All Have Scars We all have scars. Many times we think of physical scars, like the one’s you have mentioned. Usually physical scars aren’t that big of a deal to us... when someone sees them, we get to tell them a cool story. But we don’t only get hurt physically, we also get hurt emotionally. As a result, we have emotional scars. These are not so easy to talk about. We often want to hide them. We all have experienced emotional pain have emotional scars of some kind. Here are some examples of things that cause emotional scars in our lives... broken hearts, grief, abuse, rape, abandonment, rejection... For some of you, your emotional pain may be more extreme than others. But we all experience emotional pain. Truth: Your Pain Isn’t Really Hidden We all experience emotional pain and sometimes we choose to hide it. But the truth is... your pain isn’t really hidden. Jesus even tells us that we will experience pain in life... John 16.33 Peter tells us not to be surprised when we experience pain... 1 Peter 4.12 God knows about the pain you’ve experienced and are experiencing right now... Hebrews 4.13 We can fool other people. We can act like we’re ok. We can hide our pain from others. But nothing is hidden from God. So what do you do with your pain?
