Then the author applies the Context, the?Problem Solution?Pat tern and the Thematic Structure of the System ic2Functional Linguistics to the narrative Analysis of the novel. It reveals how the fore grounding pat terns or features at the macro and micro levels are interwoven with their embedded functional meanings. And it proves that the Functional Linguistics is an objective and comprehensive tool for stylistic analysis.
