1. Euthyphro (Plato’s Dialogue)
The following excerpt of a dialogue is from Euthyphro. It begins on that morning when Socrates is to be trialed. And Socrates was at the general area where the court was held. An Athenian named Euthyphro, a person known to him, has a dialogue with Socrates. The Euthyphro provides us with an introduction to Socrates and perhaps shapes why he was so unpopular with his fellow Athenians and the very different picture his pupil has:
