Trypanosoma evansi 伊氏锥虫 Introduction Typanosoma evansi,economically important haemoflagellate,infects many domestic and wild animals such as horses,camels,buffalo and deer,causing the trypanosomiasis called surra in these animals. Surra is one of the most important endemic diseases of animals in China,especially in the southern part. Thousands of domestic animals,particularly buffalo,die from T.evansi infection each year in this country.resulting in a great deal of economic loss. The total length of T.evansi has a variation between 15-34 μm; with a mean length of 24 μm and a width varying between 1.5 to 2.2 μm.
