Unit2(a) Company history
I. Teaching Objectives:
i. To enable Ss to describe companies and their histories
ii. To practise reading for specific information
iii. To review the past simple and prepositions of time
II. Materials needed: Cards- 8 Cards: one set of cards per pair / grooup to be photocopied from T’s Guide
III. Teaching Process:
i.Unit overview
稵he history of Volkswagen
Warmer: T elicits any knowledge / experience of VW / Beetles.
Reading:Ss doa quiz about Volkswagen in pairs then scan a text to find answers to the quiz. Ss then answer multipler –choice questions.
Vocabulary: Ss scan the text again to pick out target vocabulary.
Language focus: Ss review the form of the past simple.
Speaking: Ss exchange information about their own company’s history.

Vocabulary: Ss match company descriptions with definitions.
Speaking: Ss order cards to make a company organigram the describe the company structure.
Ss exchange information about the present situation of their otwn companies.

Language focus: Dap-fill exercise(past simple).
Vocabulary: Sorting exercise (prepositions of time: in, st, on).
Odd-one-out collocation exercise (verbs and nouns).
Exam practice: Vocabulary matching exercise (re ading Test Part 2).
Not-writing exercise ( Writing Test Part 1).
ii.Detailed study of this unit
Step 1 The history of Volkswagen
Warmer:
T asks Ss if they know what the most successful car ever is: the Volkswagen Beetle. T asks Ss what they know about Volkswagen (VW).
Ex.1 Speaking:
The quiz focuses Ss’ attention on the subject matter of the unit and introduces Ss to the history of VW. Ss do the quiz in pairs.
