The cost is low, the timing precision, convenient application, can meet the needs of most small and medium-sized timing. This article focuses on a curriculum-based digital stopwatch microcontroller design. The designation of digital stopwatch is based on the AT89S52MCU serve as central devices. Using its timer / counter’s timing and counting functions, combined with the display circuit, LED digital timer and designed to achieve the preset function. The software and hardware combination, so that the system can achieveLED display, 0 ~ 99.99 seconds, timing accuracy of0.01 seconds, can correctly time. Which software systems using assembly language programming, including the display program, the timer interrupt service program , key scan programs, delay procedures and commissioning at Keil. Hardware system simulation using powerful Proteus simulation software to complete, we can observe simplily and easily , and can be observed in the simulation to the actual working condition. Simulation results show that the digital stopwatch have high precision and stability. Eventually, after a series of debugging, which is reaching the design of the course requirement
