The traditional gear measuring apparatus possessed high precision, but their single function and data process abilities couldn’t meet the needs of automatic measuring mission. The thesis came from engineering fact, the target of building up a measuring and controlling system of gear measuring center was achieved successfully. The realization method of setting up a measuring and controlling system of gear measuring center was discussed, basing on electronic generative metrology and combining with coordinate measurement techniques to correct errors. The open CNC system, status inspection and control system, data collection system were established according to the mechanical characteristics. The hardware condition of automatic measuring cylindrical gear was founded by these means. The parameters and metrical techniques of gear works were abstracted and packed with the help of OOP thoughts, basing on the criterion of software engineering, the codes of measuring and controlling system were written, which was a part of user application software in gear measuring center. It includes data collection program, status inspection and control program, motion control and user interface program etc. Working together with the hardware, the functions of measuring errors in involutes cylindrical gear were accomplished.
