大学英语全新版第四册 Unit One Fighting With the Forces of Nature Objectives Students will be able to: Develop reading skills—grasp the main idea (The elements of nature must be reckoned with in any military campaign) and structure; Develop writing skills—learn to provide evidence when you are writing an essay; Learn the language—master the key language points and grammatical structures in the text; Integrate the four skills—conduct a series of reading, listening, speaking and writing activities related to the theme of the unit. Ss’ understanding the main ideas in each part of Text A and the text structure; 2. Ss’ mastery of the key language points in the text; (In multimedia room, big class) 1. Presentation of the courseware of the text; 2. Discussion: Man or nature, which is more powerful? 2 periods 1. Ss presentation: topics of their own interests; 2. Ss’ further understanding of Text A; 3. Ss’ summary of Text B: Gambling with the forces of nature. (In small class) 1. 3 Ss making prepared speeches; 2. Presentation of courseware for Ss to understand some difficult sentences in Text A; 3. Discussion and summary: The elements of nature must be reckoned with in any military campaign. 2 periods 1. Developing writing skill; 2. Developing reading skill of skimming scanning for main idea and specific details. (In small class) 1. Paragraph development: ways to provide evidence; 2.
