Design Principle of Concrete Structure 1.1 General concept on concrete structure 1.1.1 Definition and classification of concrete structures Structures based concrete materials can be called concrete structures.Including reinforced concrete、pre-stressing concrete and plain concrete Etc. 1.1.2 The role and requirements of reinforcement The reasons that the concrete and reinforcement can work together： ⑴There is good bond stresses between steel and concrete, and deformation can be compatible in these two materials; ⑵There are the same linear expansion coefficient in steel and concrete(1.2×10-5 and 1.0~1.5×10-5 separately). 1.1.3 The main strengths and weaknesses of the concrete structures Advantages:⑴ The materials can get every where;⑵ Materials can be used reasonably;⑶ Good for Durability;(4)Good for Fire Resistance;(5)It’s good at for forming in any place;(6)Good integer by case in place. Disadvantages：⑴ Big Deadweight:not good for Large-Span, High-Rise;⑵Poor Crack Resistance：Most of the reinforced concrete structure in service is behaving in a cracked state; (3) The performance of heat insulation sound and insulation is poor. 1.2 Historical Development of Concrete Structure In 1824 British J.Aspdin invented Portland cement.In 1849 frenchman J. L. Lambot constructed the first small boat which made of concrete .
