Book Report on To Build a Fire To Build a Fire is one of the most famous short stories of the famous American writer Jack London. About a person walking alone in the cold , and in the end can not resist the cold and freezing to death. To Build a Fire is a classical works of naturalism. The character in this story defy nature, but he was frustrated by nature. Jack London was born on January 12, 1876, in San Francisco. He suffered the poverty and hardships during his childhood. He began to write at the age of twenty four, and died at forty years old. During this sixteen years, he was written nineteen long novels and more than one hundred and fifty short stories. He also wrote three plays and quiet a few essays and papers. These works in the United States and other countries around the world have had a profound effect. His representative works are The Son of the Wolf (1900), Love of Life (1907), Lost Face (1910). Long stories have Burning Daylight (1910) and The Abysmal Brute (1913). In addition, he also have a unique style of the dod’s novels,such as The Call of the Wild (1903 ) and White Fang (1906). Jack London, whose life symbolized the power of will, was the most successful writer in America in the early 20th Century. His vigorous stories of men and animals against the environment, and survival against hardships were drawn mainly from his own experience. As a prolific American novelist and short story writer, London’s works deal romantically with the overwhelming power of nature and the struggle for survival.
