According to incomplete statistics, by the end of 2013, our business registration number of SMEs reached 42 million, which was 99% of the total number of enterprises in our country; SMEs contributed 58.5% to Chinese GDP, 52.2% to the tax paid, and 80% to employment. Obviously, SMEs have played a very important role in promoting economic growth and easing the employment pressure, optimizing the economic structure and many other aspects. However, along with economic development, SMEs are generally subject to the financing problems due to the the weak strength of economy, low level of credit, lack of collateral and other conditions, constraints. Located in the northwest of Hubei province, Shiyan is an industrial city where economic development is rather behind and SMEs occupy a large proportion of the enterprise, involving wide industries. Currently SMEs in Shiyan is also facing difficulties in financing, financing for a single channel, less banks lending and other issues. Based on the financing status of SMEs in Shiyan City, the following article will analyse the problem of financing difficulties of SMEs and propose countermeasures to solve their problems in terms of the factors such as national policies, commercial banks, SMEs itself and so on.
