They usually involve a change in stock type, batch number, or material number. Examples of transfer postings are the release from inspection to the companys unrestricted used stock. Stock transfers can occur at three different levels: Company code to company code Plant to plant Storage location to storage location Such a stock transfer consists of a goods issue from the issuing point and a goods receipt at the receiving point. You can post stock transfers in one or two steps. A stock transfer from storage location to storage location takes place within one plant. It is therefore posted without value since the transferred material is managed in the same plant and therefore with the same valuation data as before. Storage Location Movement Types: 1 - Step (311) 2 - Step (313 - 315) The one-step procedure has the advantage that you can enter the stock transfer in a single transaction. With the two-step procedure, it is possible to monitor the stocks which are in transit. After the GI posting at the point of issue, the stock is in transfer at the receiving point and is managed as such in the system. The single-step procedure has the advantage that you can enter the stock transfer in one single process. With the two-step procedure it is possible to monitor the stocks that are being transferred.
