Teaching objectives By the end of this lesson ,students should be able to 1. understand Anne’s eagerness for friends, friendship, nature and freedom. 2. know some knowledge about the Nazi’s cruel deeds towards the Jews during the Second World War. 3. improve ability of scanning and skimming. Learn to appreciate Anne’s Diary , the classic work. Ⅱ. Teaching important and difficult points 1. Improve their ability of scanning and skimming. 2. Know the true meaning of a friend and questions of friendship. Ⅲ. Teaching methods Interactive model Ⅳ. Teaching aids Chalk and blackboard Ⅴ. Teaching procedures Step 1 Greeting with students Step 2 Lead-in(5mins) Play a song about friends to motivate students’interests,then teacher asks students: Do you have friends? Step 3 Pre-reading(5mins) Have a free talk (Go through the following questions quickly with the class collect the answers on the paper ) Let students talk about following questions in groups ,each group has two people. 1) Why do you need friends?Make a list of reasons why friends are important to you. 2) Does a friend always have to be a person?What else can be your friend? Step 4 Background information-persons (5mins) Teacher gives students some background information about persons Anne: a young girl of about 15 years old and the author of the diary Mr. Frank: Anne’s father who once owned a business in Germany Mrs. Frank: Anne’s mother who stayed at home to look after the family Margot: Anne’s older sister who was very intelligent, studious and quiet
