All practical systems are dynamic – processes join, leave, crash, or the systems get perturbed. How to guarantee functionality in spite of these events? My interests are in self-managing distributed systems. How to design distributed systems/algorithms that are: self-organizing / self-healing / self-optimizing / self-adjusting etc. Graduate courses that I teach 22C: 166 Distributed Systems and Algorithms (Spring 2015?) 22C: 196 Peer-to-Peer and Social Networks (TBD)
