摘 要
本文首先结合禁忌与社交的概念引出社交禁忌习俗的概念,指出它是人们社会交往,尤其是跨文化交流中的一个障碍。然后从拜访禁忌、送礼禁忌与话题禁忌三个方面进行中英社交禁忌习俗的异同比较;并从中英不同的宗教信仰、价值观及思维方式三个角度阐述了中英社交禁忌习俗异同产生的原因。最后预测了在全球化的背景之下的中英社交禁忌习俗的发展趋势。本文旨在消除和减少跨文化交往可能带来的误解和摩擦,为保障中英跨文化交际的顺利进行提供一些帮助。

ABSTRACT
This paper first draws out the concept of taboo custom in social communication, combining with the concept of taboo and social communication, and points out that it is a obstacle for the successful communication, especially the cross-cultural communication; then compares Sino-British social taboos in the following aspects: taboo custom in visiting, presenting and in verbal language. And then analyses the cause behind the difference between English and Chinese social taboos from the religious culture, value and thinking mode. Finally forecasts the development trend of social taboo in the context of globalization. This paper aims to eliminate or reduce the misunderstandings or friction in cross-cultural communication and to secure a smooth communication between the West and China,
