Methodology in Teaching Second Language Name: 张 敏 Student No.:2012110055 Lecturer: Zhang Min Assignment One Prepare two consecutive lessons, each in which you develop the macro-skills of reading and writing 2500words Rational for the overall lesson design Task-Based Language (TBLT) refers to an approach based on the use of tasks as the core unit of planning and instruction in language teaching. It proposes the notion of “tasks” as a central unit of planning and teaching. There is a commonsensical understanding that a task is an activity or goal that is carried out using language. Communicative Language Teaching(CLT) emphasizes the need to focus in language teaching on communicative proficiency rather than on mere mastery of structures. Language is a system for the expression of meaning.The primary function of language is to allow interaction and communication. The structure of language reflects its functional and communicative uses. The primary units of language are not merely its grammatical and structural features,but categorizes of functional and communicative meaning as exemplified in discourse. Cooperative Language Learning(CLL) is part of a more general instruction approach also known as Collaborative Learning(CL). Cooperative Learning makes maximum use of cooperative activities involving pairs and small groups of learners in the classroom as a shift from teacher-centered to student-centered . Rational for reading activities/ tasks Barnett(1989) categorizes reading models into three basic types: Bottom-up models-the reader essentially builds up the meaning of a text on the basis of decoding smaller units: first words,and phrases, then sentences and paragraphs, and finally working out the meaning of the whole text. The processing is essentially data-drivenas it is evoked by incoming data; Top-down
