Mr. Rhodes 罗先生 Graduate English 研究生英语 Fall Semester 2014 2014年秋季学期 Classroom Procedures and Expectations 课堂流程与教学期望 1. Name – 姓名 You must use your English name for all purposes in this class. You may only change your name with my permission. 在课堂上必须使用英文名字。若需更改英文名，需经得我同意。 2. Attendance Policy – 考勤制度 Attendance is recorded, but not graded. If you don’t want to be here, that’s your problem. I keep attendance so that if you fail the exams, I might know why. If I am 15 minutes late to class, then class is automatically cancelled. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THERE EVER BE CLASS ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY. 我会记录每位同学的出勤情况，但出勤率不会作为最终的评分标准之一。若你不想来上课，随便你。考勤的主要目的在于如果你挂科了，我大概能猜出为什么你挂了。若上课铃声已经响了，且15分钟后我还没到教室，当日课程自动取消。本课程上课时间绝对不会安排在周末。 3. Electronics Policy – 电子产品政策 If you want to sit in the back and watch movies on your phone in class, I don’t care. It’s your responsibility to pass the exams. Do not let your phone cause a disturbance to the class. Please switch your phone to silent or vibrate before class starts. 我不介意你坐在教室后边捧着手机看电影。你要明白你的目标不是挂科。玩手机的时候不要影响其他人。请大家于上课前将手机调成静音或振动模式。 4. Class time – 课堂时间 You must produce your own notes; I will not send you my powerpoints. Journals – 日志 This is an Oral English class, so your homework is to speak English. Throughout the term, keep a journal of your English study. Across the entire term, log 4500 minutes in your journal. This is 4500 minutes where you are speaking in English-only with a partner or group. No Chinese is allowed during this time. A good idea is to speak with other students who take my class, although it is not required. You can speak with me or the other foreign teachers or the undergraduate English majors or the Chinese teache
