Use the situation given below. Then switch roles and practice again. You are in a classroom the first day of class. Another student comes in. You are a professor. A new student comes into your office to meet you. You are at a friend’s party. You see a new person standing near you. You are in an office. A new co-worker（同事）enters. T asks LL to do their work before their fellows. Presentation and Drill : T asks LL to make a longer conversation in situation 1. At the same time, T reminds LL to recollect the ways of making a conversation talked about in their home listening jobs “the Skills of Making a Conversation” and “the Small Talk is Easy”. T asks questions to LL: a. How do you open your conversation in such situation? b. What is/are the appropriate topic(s) for situation 1? Summary and Practice: T may find two problems in LL’s conversations: a. They failed to continue their conversations after greeting each other. b. They make the conversations in Chinglish.
