English-Chinese Translation Course Report 一. Introduction of Translation What is language? On the first lesson of English-Chinese translation, Mr.Benson asked us the question. During the sophomore year, learning English lexicology, the instructor analyzed the definition of it for us elaborately: Language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols used for human communication. It is a professional and systematic parlance. However in the English-Chinese translation class, the teacher use a word merely to cover the meaning of language.Custom is the summary of a high level of language. Before learn this course, I has a strong interest on translation. Translate one language into another language, reveal the hidden meaning between the words, dissect the emotion fully.Translation is like copying a painting. Although it is others work, the final work is full of our thoughts and feelings. To the viewer it appears a different kind of charming. And translation is in the inheritance of the author to express meaning, and make the text more vitality. Of the first key element, I think that translation is an accumulation of knowledge. We need to be a mobile encyclopedia, it does not mean that we should be proficient in all aspects of knowledge, but should understand. So when we translate documents in the future,do not make mistaken by misunderstanding, and even cause significant errors.Before translating, of course, we also need to read a large number of related materials. With the gradual development of translation learning, I am troubled in the compactness of knowledge.
