(ELIAS’ STORY)

4.学生课前准备:
①预习本单元单词从Nelson Mandela到turn to
②预习伊莱亚斯的故事
③查询收集Nelson Mandela的有关信息 二.教学目标 1. Language Focus
The students will be able to
(1) understand the following words and pattern properly in given situations:
guidance, turn to sb, out of work, be hopeful about, stage, vote, attack, violence, as a matter of fact, blow up, equal…
(2) describe the main things which Mandela did for black people and the belief of him.
2. Language Skills
The students will be able to understand the passage better by skimming and scanning the passage
3. Learning Strategies
The students will
(1) be able to learn about the achievements of Nelson Mandela by the information collected from the reading. (认知策略)
(2) be encouraged in groups to discuss the greatness of Mandela. (情感策略). Affection
The students will be able to focus their attention on the reading skills and language difficulty.
5. Culture
The students will be able to be aware of the greatness of such a person who devotes himself to fighting for the freedom and equality, not cares anything about himself. 教材分析
This lesson consists of a reading material which depictures the figure of Nelson Mandela from a young African man Elias. Personally, the reading material can go beyond the students’ ability if they don’t know the background introduction of Mandela or they don’t go through warming up in the previous lesson. Therefore, the understanding of this lesson, to some degree, must be based on the understanding of the former lesson.
【教学重点】Through prediction, fast reading, careful reading and retellingthe students generally know who Mandela and Elias are and what happened to them.
【教学难点】The students might find it to understand some sentences which were organized by attributive clauses .
