In addition, Inmarsat has Five spare satellites for back-up use. Coast Earth Stations The CES provide the link between the satellites and terrestrial telecommunications networks ,A typical CES consist of a parabolic antenna which is used for transmission 6GHZ and reception 4GHZ ;another antenna is used for L-band transmission Ship Earth Stations The requirements for SES in GMDSS are capable of two-way communication. Inmarsat-A (Disuse), Inmarsat-B( Almost disuse), Inmarsat-C (Must provide), Inmarsat –F (for E-mail use in ship ). Lesson 5 Inmarsat Communication Service Inmarsat 通信业务是指Inmarsat 系统实现或者支持的遇险，紧急，安全，常规报警与通信业务，主要有船岸，岸船遇险报警，常规通信。 Coast Earth Stations (1) Each CES in the system is required to provide reliable communication interconnection with an RCC,known as associated RCCs, any distress priority request message received at the CES is automatically processed and passed to the associated RCCs.
