You see, Jane lives in a big green-and-white house and seems to have a happy family. But when she asks cat, mother, father, and dog to play with her, no one comes. They just laugh or make sounds. The family isn?t so harmonious as it seems to be. They all have their own business to handle and are deaf to each other. It is just like the story happened to Pecola, whose family was not so happy and even broken. What?s more, the unrelated family members are also like the disordered seasons appearing in the novel. The narrator Claudia?s reminiscence was also in fragment, just like the unrelated family members. It might indicate that the protagonists of the novel were not willing to experience such things with other people but had no choice. We can see from the beautiful green and white house that Dick and Jane?s family might be a white family.
