Teaching Objectives a) Knowledge objectives: By the end of this lesson the students will have a better understanding of the structure and characteristics of graph or chart. The students will grasp some useful words and expressions to describe a given graph: as shown in the chart, increase from, compared with, the number of, etc. b) Ability objectives: Students will strengthen their ability of information gathering, analyzing, comparing and making conclusion through pre-writing and writing. c) Moral objectives: Students will be more confident and improve their ability of cooperating with each other through discussing. 3. Teaching important and difficult points How to make use of appropriate sentence structures to describe a given graph. How to express the information they’ve got. How to draw their own conclusion from the graph as well as how to improve the students’ writing skills. 4. Teaching methods and learning ways Task-based approach, cooperating approach, communicative approach Discussion, information gathering, comparing. Teaching aids: multi-media, pictures 5.
