Specifically, the goals of this Study Guide are threefold: to encourage detailed examination of portions of the textual material to help relate material which you learn to the environment with which you are most familiar; and, to assist in the ‘synthesis’ which is noted in the title of the text Each chapter in this Study Guide corresponds to a chapter in the text, and is divided into three distinct sections. First, preceding the actual study material for each chapter, is a list of ‘objectives’ whose purpose is to help you better understand exactly what it is that you are supposed to learn from that chapter.
