A Brief Intertextuality Analysis of the English Exam Composition
Abstract: Intertextuality as a new popular concept often used in the study of discourse analysis. It has been a central concept used in the critical discourse analysis,but it often has been misused or used irrelevantly,so we can know that there is no a fundamental definition about it . Many scholars research on it with their definitions and these definitions are right or applicable in some way. This article is based on some scholars’ theories about “intertextuality” to study an english exam composition. Then to give the english composition writing some instruction and help the teacher to teach students to write a good composition not only in how to use words but also in the writing structure and genre.

The Brief Introduction of the Intertextuality
Intertextuality has been a key word in the field of literature criticism and cultural studies. There are more and more works that analyze literary texts and cultural phenomenon from the perspective of intertextuality.
In most of cases,There are two definitions about intertextuality ,one is broadly defined and the other is defined in a narrow sense. The former is treat intertextuality as the basic feature and universal principal of all the literary texts. The latter one means that intertextuality refers to the specific relation between a fixed text and other fixed texts,especially the obvious quotation,plagiarism,rewrite and so on. The foregoing theories are broadly defined in a large part,and the after theories are defined in the narrow sense in some way.
1.1 How the Intertextuality Comes from
The term intertextuality is derived from the Latin “intertexto”,and it means that intermingle while weaving,and in French it is “intertextualit”. Intertextuality is a term from French semiotic tradition in fact.It is first proposed in 1960s by the Julia Kriste
