The Simulation of Traffic Flow at Signal Intersection by Using Object-Oriented Database Models Abstract-The paper builds up traffic flow simulated models at signal intersection and describes analysis, design and implementation of software system by applying Software Engineering Theory. The paper makes use of the Object-Oriented technology which imitates mans thinking to model the rule of vehicle arriving intersection，the rule of lane choice, the rule of vehicle leaving from intersection. The simulation of traffic flow at signal intersection is an up-to-date method to research traffic control. It is expected that this paper will contribute to the understanding of how to describe the complicated traffic phenomenon with computer language. Index Terms-Object-Oriented Database Model. Signal Intersection. Traffic Flow Simulation 1. INTRODUCTION Signal intersection play an important role in capacity and safety at urban road network, and it is regarded as the neck of the road. Statistical data has indicated that the main reason of traffic delay lies in the deficient capacity of intersection. In Japan,it was proved 58 percent of life accident had happened at intersection or nearby (within 30 meters). Sometimes it is no realistic to construct intersection because of limited fund and land, therefore how to improve vehicles running situation at intersection has become a critical question. If the problem can be properly solved, it would help to increase capacity of the road network, raise efficiency of transportation system and reduce traffic accident. At present some countries have successful experience in this field，Despite fairly good fundamental facilities, these countries think that an advanced management methods play an important role in solving congestion and safety questions.
