The effect of Traffic light control on a single intersection (college of Physics and electronics engineering of Guangxi Normal university, Guilin 541004 , Guangxi ,China) A cellular automata model for a single intersection with open boundary conditions is presented.In this model, the vehicles are allowed to turn their directions with a probability. We analyze the traffic flow characteristics of the model and the optimization of green ratio.The simulations under different traffic conditions are given. It can be found that the optimization of green ratio depends on the boundary conditions but independents on the period of traffic light. There is a optimum range of green ratio for fixed boundary condition. The influence of turning probability on traffic flow is also discussed . Turning permission leads to the disappear of congestion on street.
