Instuctional Design for control your anger and better your life I. An analysis of the teaching material. This passage is an argumentative essay which presents the writer’s understanding of anger and its negative impact on our life. He also offers some detailed suggestions for readers to have good control over anger, since anger is inevitable for everyone. Students are familiar with the topic, but as for the bad effects it has on life and the way to deal with it, students may have some difficulty due to lack of enough life experience and wisdom. The article develops smoothly and the few new words will not cause difficulty in understanding. The content of the article is closely related to their daily life and some suggestions may guide them in their future life, thus I believe they will be interested in the content and show great interest in reading it. What’s more, I hope by reading this article, the students will not only learn some new words and expressions, but also add to their tact in dealing with some trying situations or troubled people in the days to come. II. Analysis of the students: The passage is intended for the medium-level or up students in Senior 2, who have mastered the major grammatical rules and the majority of the vocabulary required by NMET. What’s more, the theme of the passage, control your anger and better your life, is quiet familiar to the students. Although in adults’ eyes, they live a carefree life, they often become irritated and frustrated and thus, they are easy to lose their temper. So it is likely that they will not have much difficulty in understanding the passage. How to deal with anger in life is difficult for most people in life, let alone the students just stepping into their adulthood. On the other hand, it’s also time for students to think about the topic and share the writer’s wisdom on this point. So after a general understanding of the text, I intend to arrange for them to practice what they have read in class. II
