Therefore, how to in the familiar protection principle based on the large generator transformer were reasonable protection configuration and correct setting calculation and improve operation element protection has become a very important issue. Firstly, this paper studies the main power plant equipment protection principle and setting calculation method, which comprises a generator, transformer and generator transformer unit, motors and other main equipment. Secondly the main protection of the generator is mainly introduced the generator main protection analysis, generator rotor turn to turn short circuit or two point grounding analysis, generator other protection analysis. Protection setting calculation of transformer, this paper focuses on two aspects of transformer main protection and backup protection In the end of this paper, the development direction of large generator transformer protection under the new situation is prospected.
