In recent years， as the representative of the original ecological folks， Shanxi folk songs have attracted widespread attention in the music industry. However， some colleges and universities in Shanxi province have not drawn enough attention to the Shanxi folk song teaching seriously. Therefore， the author intends to take the teaching practice the folk song meeting the sweetheart as an example， to explore the significance and the method of the development of teaching the folk songs in colleges and universities in Shanxi. 　　Key words： Shanxi folk songs； meeting the sweetheart； significance； method 　　Shanxi is a party which is pregnant with countless beautiful folk songs. Everywhere on the land which hold the black gold in store flutters the beautiful melody of all the local folk songs such as the mountain tunes， popular tunes， chants， yangko dance， flower show， the large cavity and other kinds of native folk songs. Especially in recent years， along with Shi Zhanming， A Bao， Gao Baoli and other local singers introduce the original ecological folk songs of Shanxi to the audience， the Chinese music industry has also set off a wave of singing the original ecological folk songs. So I think that each college music department in Shanxi province should seize the opportunity， and introduce the original ecological Shanxi folk songs into the university classrooms， in order to better inherit and develop Shanxi local folk songs. In this paper， on the basis of the author’s teaching practice， taking the teaching of Zuo Quan’s folk song meeting the sweetheart as an example， the author explores the significance and methods of the folk song teaching in colleges and universities in Shanxi in order to stimulate more opinions from others for the readers to appreciate. 　　Meeting the sweetheart is Zuo Quan’s folk song to Blossom tune which is widely sung.
