The chairperson will conduct the meeting, ensuring that people stick to the point and that everyone who wants to speak gets the opportunity to do so. The chairperson must try to guide the discussion towards an agreed decision; if this is not possible the chairperson may propose a vote. During the meeting, there usually is a person, often a secretary, assigned to take down the minutes. The minutes are records of everything that is discussed and any decisions that are made. They will be typed up afterwards and circulated to all the relevant people.
