Step 1
Warming up:
Play a video and answer the following questions: What can you see in the video? What does it look like? What can it do?
Then look at some pictures of robots and answer: What do they look like? What can they do?
In order to arouse students’ interests.
Enjoy the video and some pictures and answer these questions.
Step 2
Pre-reading:
1. Look at the title of the passage and a picture, then predict what the passage is mainly about.
2. Put some words we have met in a box, ask students to write down the words you think you will read in the passage.
Students predict the main idea and the words they think they will read.
Step 3
Fast Reading:
1. Ask students read the passage quickly with the question: Will people have more work to do in the future? Why or why not?
2. Ask students to underline the words in the box.
Students read the passage quickly and find the supporting sentence of the question, underline the given words and see how many words they predicted right.
Step 4
Careful Reading:
Answer the following questions:
How many kinds of robots are talked about in the passage?
What do they look like?
What can they do?
