Social network services focus on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities. Social networking has encouraged new ways to communicate and to share information. The background technology is web 2.0. Lately, a lot of applications in library systems use web 2.0 technology. the term Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation of web development and design. C#, ASP.NET, JAVA, AJAX, PHP server-side languages and collaborative technology such as RSS, Semantic web, FOAF (Friend Of A friend) are key technology used in web 2.0. With web 2.0 technology, the user can own and control the data. For example, users can create their own account and post comments. For the first generation of web development and design, users only can view the data. (The Semantic Web is a web that is able to describe things in a way that computers can understand. The background computer language is XML, RDF. FOAF and RSS are both RDF and XML vocabulary.
