The movies, which are in MPG format, show the movement of dislocations in ferritic steels (body-centred cubic crystal structure), at elevated temperatures. The images are taken in a hot-stage in a transmission electron microscope. These observations have been used to conclude the molybdenum and tungsten have the same solid-solution strengthening effect on ferrite.

Allotropy 同素异形
Allotropy is a behavior exhibited by certain chemical elements: these elements can exist in two or more different forms, known as allotropes of that element.
Iron represents perhaps the best-known example for allotropy in a metal. There are three allotropic forms of iron, known as alpha, gamma, and delta.
As molten iron cools down it crystallizes at
1538°C into its delta allotrope, which has a body-centre cubic (BCC) crystal structure.
As it cools further its crystal structure changes to face centre cubic (FCC) at 1394°C, when it is known as gamma-iron, or austenite.
At 912°C the crystal structure again becomes BCC as alpha-iron also known
