Grammar 1 — Non-defining relative clause 1. Ask Ss to read out the sentences in Activity 1 and translate them into Chinese. (1) A relative clause that contains essential information about the subject is called a defining relative clause. A relative clause that contains extra information about the subject is called a non-defining relative clause.
