PPT研究院 POWERPOINT ACADEMY * * The purpose of ABS is to allow the driver to fully depress the brake pedal without skidding on wet and slippery road under heavy braking conditions and to make a car shorten braking distances and stop in a straight line without loss of the directional control. During normal braking, the ABS and non-ABS brake pedal feel will be the same. During ABS operation, a pulsation can be felt in the brake pedal, accompanied by a fall and then rise in brake pedal height and a clicking sound. The anti-lock brake system consists of the following components: electronic control unit (ECU), anti-lock brake control module, front anti-lock brake sensors and rear anti-lock brake sensors. See figure 6-15. Figure 6-15 The ECU continuously monitors the rotating speed of each wheel to determine if wheels are going to lockup. It can detect this by sensing wheels which are rotating considerably slower than the others. Once it has detected a possible lockup — the ECU moves the valves to help relieve the pressure within the braking lines, by doing so it helps to reduce the braking force on the targeted wheel. Following that the wheel then turns faster and when it starts turning too fast, the force is reapplied. The ABS system does the process repeatedly.
