No. GHSP-CS-OP1-02 China UK Global Health Support Programme Terms of Reference for Research on Reproductive Health / Maternal and Child Healthcare in Global Health in China As the Programme Management Office (PMO), Center for Project Supervision and Management, MOH is implementing China UK Global Health Support Programme. According to the requests of GHSP, PMO will make contracts with selected tenderers to conduct research on Reproductive Health / Maternal and Child Healthcare in global health in China which can achieve the output of “Increased ability to distil, disseminate and apply Chinese experience in improving health outcomes and strengthening health systems” through open tender. 1. Background China had achieved profoundly the improvement of health for its people with limited financial and human resources over the past 60 years since the founding of the People’s Republic in 1949. These achievements were due largely to the development and implementation of appropriate health policies emphasizing primary healthcare, infectious disease control and strengthening grass-root healthcare networks, as well as the development and implementation of other astute public policies such as education, nutrition, water and sanitation as well as poverty reduction. While China’s health development has changed significantly, global health challenges have also been evolving rapidly. In recent years, Chinese government agencies and international philanthropic organizations/communities have recognized that experiences/best practices and lessons learned from China’s health development over the past six decades could be relevant and very useful in supporting the achievement of Health-related MDGs and post-2015 sustainable health development in low- and middle income countries, as China is playing a more and more important role in supporting these countries’ socio-economic development.
