Method Statement for Disposal Area at Intake Valley No.1 disposal area is far from right abutment and there is a section of public road between them, so all kinds of factors and potential safety hazard will disturb construction. In addition, the width of D1 road is only 5m and the traffic is very busy, so the efficiency of transportation is not high. To speed up the excavation of right abutment and improve efficiency, we propose to develop a new disposal area at intake valley. Layout of disposal area Disposal area is proposed to be located at the valley near intake and with the occupation area of 28767.3 m3. The height of disposal material is 40m and with the elevation from EL.145.0m to EL.185.0m. It will finally form a platform with elevation of EL.185.0m. The total quantity of disposal material is 183637m3. The disposal area is used to stack disposal material from right abutment, D2 permanent road and intake. Disposal material will be dumped layer by layer and from bottom to top. A 2.5 wide berm will be set every 10m high. Excavator will be used to form a slope with gradient of 1:3. Big block stone will be used to protect the slope. Layout of construction road One construction roads are proposed to be set at disposal area. Q1 road is started from EL.132.0m up to EL.185.0m; Gradient will be no more than 11%. The road is 8m wide and its foundation is 10m wide. Drainage ditch will be constructed at inner slope near construction road. Its bottom is 100cm wide and top is 200cm wide. The drainage ditch is 50cm deep. 1.0m thick rock will be filled first at the bottom of disposal area and near nature slope, and then mixture of soil and rock will be filled. Preparation of construction Setting out Temporary bench marks which is led from control points III05 and III08 near disposal area will be used to set out for disposal.
