Main Options: USA SHRP-LTPP Dutch CROW protocol Preliminary trial held in November 1998 sponsored by the Highways Agency with support from the UK and Ireland FWD Group Preliminary Trial Each complete set of twelve points called a “lap” Each machine completed seven laps Smoothing: “default”, on or off Load: 50kN, 75kN and 25kN Each lap analysed separately FWD Group Field Calibration Procedure (CROW) Normalise deflections to 50kN Rank deflections from each sensor and each point - remove highest and lowest - calculate mean deflection Calculate the difference between machine mean and overall mean - ratio of the difference to the mean - deviation ratio Calculate the standard deviation of the deviation ratio (SDDR) - if 0.09, remove FWD from next stage Calculate reference deflection basins using FWDs not removed in the previous stage Ratio of the reference deflection basin to the mean deflection per FWD is known as the Field Calibration Factor (FCF) FWD Group Field Calibration Procedure (CROW) FCF designed to adjust the calibration of
