Meet people. Talk to them. Listen to what they say.’ So, in 1920, Edward left England again. During the next 5 years he travelled 240,000 kilometers and visited 45 different countries. When he came to Toronto, in Canada, there were 500,000 people in the street to welcome him. How about in other countries? There were crowds of 190,000 in Cape Town开普敦, 300,000 in Paris, 500,000 in New York, and 750,000 in Melbourne墨尔本. ‘Edward is the first royal star,’ one newspaper wrote, ‘and he is now the most famous man in the world. In the old days princes were cold and bored. But… In the autumn of 1930, Edward went to stay with his friends Lord and Lady Furness弗内斯勋爵夫妇 and met Mrs. Wallis Simpson for the first time. ‘Mrs. Simpson knew a lot about life,’ Edward once said. ‘She lo
