Wheel and Brake Removal Installation Description This event will test the technicians abilities to remove and reinstall the wheel and brake assembly. And fill in Tag .A total of 35 minutes will be given to accomplish this event. There will be 5 min. penalties for errors. Flight Control Rigging Description This event will test technicians ability to rig a cable system for a flight control surface to the proper surface position in reference to a wing surface. The example to be used for this event will be similar to a B737-800 aileron system. The mechanic will be given a mock-up of an aileron system with reference materials. Items to be judged for, but not limited to: safety of turn-buckles with safety pins, use of rig pins and correct control cable tension, Aileron surface position. A work sheet will be provided for documentation of required data for the rig tension, control surface position. Rigging requirement references material will be provided. A total of 25 minutes will be given to complete this event . (1) Cable is 1/8” (2) Current Temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. (3) Aircraft has been in a climate controlled hangar for 12 hours. (4) Aircraft should be ready for test flight when you are finished. (5) Perform tool inventory upon completion, (6) All steps should be followed; missing steps will have time penalties. (7) There will be 5 min. penalties for errors (tension wrong, rig pin freedom of movement, safety, Surface not set correctly) Instructions for Use of T5 Cable Tensionmeter 1 General Information The removable Risers are to accommodate different sizes of cable. It is through the use of Risers of different height that one instrument is able to measure tensions of various cable sizes (depending on the model). The correct Riser must be used for the cable size under test; otherwise false readings or damage to the instrument will result.
