The Chinese mainland recorded US$ 1.4 trillion in foreign trade volume last year, helping China to remain the third largest trader in the world.

Credit loans to these overheated sectors must be tightly controlled next year. Instead, priority will be given to projects that improve the living standards and working conditions in rural areas, as well as basic education, public health and scientific research.
The country would also take concrete measures to help farmers raise poultry as many farmers sustained heavy losses from the mandatory culling of poultry to prevent the spread of bird flu, which has affected 11 provinces.
China and the United States yesterday failed to solve the long-simmering textile dispute, an impasse described by industry experts as a ?loss-loss? result which could see more categories of Chinese textiles facing restrictions.
