Step One Lead in
1.Review something about the names of disadvantaged groups and the ways to help them.
T: Those deaf people , blind people and disabled people need our help. They have physical disabilities. Another group of people need our help too. They have intellectual disabilities. 导入新课 板书intellectual disabilities, the teacher explains the Chinese meaning of it .
2.Then the teacher asks “How can we help people with intellectual disabilities?”

T: Besides what you’ve mentioned , there’s another way to help them. We can volunteer for the Special Olympics World Games. 引出话题,并板书the Special Olympics World Games

3.If the students know little about it,
T: The athletes in the Special Olympics World Games are children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Games give them a chance to show their skills to the world. 板书 athlete, adult, chance.
